When you have a goal or dream … go after it. Dan dreamt of creating the world’s largest residential pumpkin parade and it changed his life and the lives of hundreds of children and adults.
On a Saturday morning in October the parade began in front of his home and went through his neighborhood for two miles. The parade included an aircraft carrier float on a flatbed truck brought by the Navy from San Diego, marching bands, ROTC color guards from Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine local high schools, 10 antique cars, kids in Halloween costumes, and approx. 150 clowns.
Dan and his wife rode in a gold Rolls Royce convertible distributing 300 pounds of candy. The last entry in the parade was a truck with 2,000 pumpkins, which were passed out to parade-goers. After a few years the parade festivities grew into flying in TV stations helicopters to four valley hospitals to deliver pumpkins to children in the hospital.
