Justin Olivares is the founder of Bricks & Mortar Food and a culinary school graduate and former professional cook. He helps adults over 40 build a practical way of eating that works around real life, including busy schedules, work travel, restaurants, weekends, family obligations, and the situations where traditional healthy eating plans often become difficult to maintain.
After years of trying to find his own balance between strict calorie counting, portion control, and everyday life, Justin realized that knowing what to eat was rarely the hardest part. The challenge was making good food decisions consistently when circumstances were less than ideal. That experience became the foundation of Bricks & Mortar Food.
His approach focuses on three practical skills: building satisfying meals, learning to bend without breaking when life interrupts the plan, and returning to normal without punishment or starting over. He combines those principles with his culinary background to make eating well practical, satisfying, and sustainable in everyday life.

Most people already know the basics of healthy eating. The harder part is making those choices consistently when work gets busy, you travel, eat at restaurants, have a difficult weekend, or simply don't have the time and energy to follow a perfect plan. This presentation looks at why traditional all-or-nothing approaches often break down in everyday life and how adults can build a more practical approach to eating well.
Participants will learn a simple framework for building satisfying meals, making intentional adjustments when circumstances aren't ideal, and returning to their normal routine without restriction, punishment, or starting over on Monday. The goal is not another diet or a list of foods to avoid. It is a set of practical skills for making better food decisions in the situations where healthy eating usually becomes difficult.
Eating well can feel relatively straightforward when you control your schedule, kitchen, and routine. The challenge often begins when work runs late, you're traveling, eating with clients, relying on restaurants, or simply don't have time to prepare what you planned. This presentation focuses on how to make better food decisions when ideal circumstances aren't available.
Participants will learn how to reduce daily food decisions, create a small set of reliable meals, navigate restaurants and travel without treating them as failures, and return to their normal eating pattern after disruptions. Rather than trying to execute a perfect plan every day, the presentation focuses on building an approach that can adapt to the realities of a busy life.
